Thanks Mike :-) I'm definitely an astro
photographer rather than an astronomer so the details of NGC 1313's formation and the dust in this field is beyond me. From what I've read though, NGC 1313 is believed to be a
field galaxy, that is, gravitationally alone (source: Wikipedia, APOD) so I don't think they have a good explanation for it's morphology or the dust in the field.

I missed your one when I was digging around for examples, Paul. Aesthetically, I definitely prefer yours to mine. I got carried away with a multiscale processing technique that enabled me to bring the dust out a lot more than I've been able to in the past. I blended it back in with a more traditionally processed image because it was looking pretty over baked at the end, but it's still pushed pretty hard. I'm happy to have brought out the dust, but I don't think it looks nice... again I prefer yours.
