1/ looked at Sidereal Trading site and could not find your cable, so cant answer whether it’s an EQ Direct cable or not
2/ maximum USB cable length ( with USB extension) is 5m , any longer say 6 or 7m you may have problems
All software is free except for BYEOS and it’s only about $75 from memory
IMHO if your going down the path of EQMOD mount control with a planetarium like Stellarium at your laptop near the mount then BYEOS or other acquisition software is a must.BYEOS is a dream to use , I use it to polar alignment as well
I recently bought an JMI autofocuser so now I don’t even touch the mount after my PA is done , everything at the laptop 2m away , I bought a cheap $15 second hand adj drum stool to sit on which is ideal
Anyway try the Siderial trading cable but keep your total length as close to 5m as possible
