First for 2020

After the fireworks and the moon had set, my 8 inch f5 Newtonian was ready to tackle a cleaner Melbourne sky than the previous nights. I managed 36 minutes of guided 3 min subs on the Rosette but it was getting lower as it headed west. Consequently there was more sky glow on this side from where I live as it faces heavily populated suburbs. In contrast, Eta Carina was almost overhead and was in much darker skies with good transparency and seeing, this shot had only 17 minutes of 1 min unguided subs. Even though Eta Carina is brighter than the Rosette, the difference is dramatic. Both shots taken with the Modded Canon 550d, 800 iso using a UVIR cut filter, I added a CLS CCD filter to half the subs on the Rosette to bring out the nebulosity.
