EQ5 mount with sturdy pier. This mount has had to goto.de conversion done so it can use the autostar 497 system.

I got this mount about 8 years ago and I performance tuned it - Took it apart and polished the gears and re-greased with marine grade lube...

It all runs very smooth! I did use it for some astrophotography (with an 8in. SCT) and found the performance very good. I never measured the error rate but my feeling is it is in best of class for EQ5 mount...

Since I moved to Hornsby, my back yard does not offer enough clear sky and I am not sure when I will move so I have decided to put this great mount up for sale.

It has been well stored inside my house and never left outside...

Also I have tested and confirmed all the Meade motors work well (including the two spares I will supply). I also tested the 497 handset with an easy alignment and confirmed tracking (and the 497) is working..

As mentioned, it will be supplied with 2 spare motors which were bought new and have never been used. The battery box in one of the photos will not be supplied as I wasn't happy with its reliability in testing - I will supply the Meade branded bat-box in the photos.

The mount comes with a small counterweight suitable for small refractors - You will need to get another counterweight for larger scopes..
