On first inspection I'd say not enough blue. The luminosity curves also need a selective tweak, as the nebula's core/trapesium is the brightest part of M42 and the brightness should roll off from there.

Don't believe me? Toss the camera, grab an eyepiece and soak in the real view

That said, this iteration is not bad, not bad at all.

Imaging standard candles can be seen by some as hum-drum, but the reason they are imaged so often...(and sadly, often poorly, and certainly not the case here )...is they are spectacular objects!

The Grand Canyon is spectacular...a crappy picture of it, is well, just another crappy picture....but the spectacular vista remains.

Perhaps I'm being obtuse, but to my thinking, great renditions that show the full majesty of various natural vistas are rare birds, and I for one, think they are are worth pursuing.
