Brilliant image Peter, and I must admit I like the reduced stars as it makes the Nebula stand out a lot more.
To protect stars and stop them bloating etc I use StarNet++ to remove all the stars, work on the nebula, then add the stars back in, I do this in PixInsight....not sure what package you use.
