Thanks for the advice. Briefly went outside just now and found NGC55 (very nice and fairly bright with a hint of the central bulge slightly to one side if my eyes are not playing tricks) and NGC300 very faint but easily found. Mostly just the central area seen. Also had another look at NGC253. Nice.
