Hi
Bottom of OTA:
The Vixen and CGE style dovetail mounting rails are attached via 3 holes; a single drilled/tapped hole on the corrector cell and two drilled/tapped holes on the mirror cell. The single front hole is a larger diameter than the 2 rear holes.
Top of OTA:
There are 4 drilled/tapped holes; 2 on the corrector cell and 2 on the mirror cell, all the same size.
I fitted a 4mm thick, 3” wide aluminium bar to the top 4 holes (2 front, 2 back) and mounted my WO 80mm ED on there using the WO 90mm rings but exceeded the weight specs for my mount so I never used this combo in anger. It certainly seemed rigid enough.
I then fitted a brass door handle to the top plate for lifting and carrying the OTA but I have since removed the handle as I felt it might have been upsetting the collimation by mechanically stressing the relationship between front and rear cells. This was a nervous Nellie reaction - not based on rational thought so take it with a large pinch of salt.
Note that there are pairs of holes available on the side of the OTA cells too, but only those holes with a cross head screw are available. Holes blanked of by grub screws should not be fiddled with unless you know they were made for use by the user. Otherwise, something may fall off inside the OTA.
From memory, the finderscope holes may be blanked off by grub screws?
Cheers
Dennis
