It was remarkable that in the first 65 years of powered flight, we went from
the Wright Flyer to Moon, but in the subsequent 50 years we are still flying
a lot of aircraft that are just newer models of aircraft that we were first
flying 65 years ago.
For example, Charles Lindbergh and his wife visited the Apollo 8 crew
the night before the launch.
In the '60's Lindbergh had also been ushered by Boeing to a special
secret warehouse in New York where they had mocked up the proposed
interior of their new 747 design and by asking his opinion, made him
an honorary consultant.
