I had a look at some comparative data for the Canon 1100D and 600D in regard to astrophotography
Canon 600D
Sensor APS-C 18 megapixel
Pixel size 4.2 micron
Quantum efficiency 40%
Read noise at ISO 800. 3.3
Read noise at ISO 1600. 2.9

Canon 1100D
Sensor APS-C. 12 megapixel
Pixel size 5.1 micron
Quantum efficiency 35%
Read noise at ISO 800. 4.4
Read noise at ISO 1600. 3.1

There’s not a big difference between both models but the 600D has better SNR than the 1100D
I couldn’t find any data on the Ha sensitivity for both models but from my experience to date ( 2 years ) with my 600D I have no intention of modding the camera as I am very satisfied with the Ha response from imaging Nebula and other DSO’s

Cheers
