I like what you have done.
You know I pulled the remote vacuum cleaner apart and an old printer to find a belt but nothing.
The mouse matt works ok...I have been using my focuser set up inspired by your good self and it works great..it only has to move a rotation or two....There is a knack to using it as it reaches focus and then pulls back a little which works out real handy.
Nice work and I hope you get to use it in the field at some stage.
