Gem nebula or cluster?
The Gem neb is a PN in Sagittarius, whilst the Gem cluster is beside Eta Carina nebula. I suspect it's the latter you meant.
I only found the Gem cluster myself in the last month! I can't believe I had never known about such a magnificent OC for all these years!!
I guess it's the typical situation of being largely unknown because it shares a bit of sky dominated by a much more showy "peacock" object.
I would have to agree that this Gem leaves the Box rather empty...
Visually stunning, and photographic wise jam packed with colourful stars, and emmission, reflective and dark nebulae to boot! It really deserves more attention.
