For those who would like to have a go, I've attached the unprocessed crops for some of the above images here. I'd love to see what some you guys can do with these!
The guts of my processing of PST images at the moment is adjusting color balance to try to bring out detail. Usually along the lines of:
Midtones: bump up red, and to a lesser extent yellow and magenta.
Highlights: bump up yellow and green (sometimes cyan)
Shadows: sometimes push blue, sometimes yellow and/or red to bring out the corona.
