Sorry for the hijack. People with frequently very expensive dedicated astro cameras probably don't like to hear it, but it is possible, given sufficient perseverance, and not a little talent, to produce images with a DSLR that are very fine, and almost indistinguishable from astro camera images. I remember that Sarah Wager used to produce stunning results in her early days of imaging with a DSLR, but unfortunately those early images don't seem to appear in her present gallery.
