As the EM radiation vs. cells debate is far from resolved (with genuinely bad consequences at certain ends of the gamut), how about networking via power frequency modulation? A basic, low bandwidth, highly robust iteration of Ethernet Over Power could link lights and accessories over long distances This would offer no EM pollution and minimal modification to the existing infrastructure.
