Hi Glenn,

The Megrez 90 to take astro images will work well as you will see from the images I have taken with it.

The finder scope in the pictures I purchased for when I was doing visual work so I could find the objects I wanted to see through the eye piece. It wouldn't be suitable for a guide scope.

I have a 70mm William Optics Zenith Star with rings that I mounted on top of the M90 that I used for guiding.

To be honest you would need to consider a guide scope or OAG to do long exposure (assuming a DSLR) like 5 minute subs.
