Perth stadium cost was only $1.6b. The engineer in the morning news today proudly said it had over 60000 lamps and a very small carbon foot print. The cost is justified because apparently it's providing a great community service, to get people together doing something they enjoy, like back in the roman arenas I guess.
Keep the plebes entertained, don't educate them. You wouldn't want smart voters now would you?
