Thanks for that. At 5 minute exposures I'm happy with the guiding. I tried 10 minute exposures a while ago (and would like to try again) but that didn't go well. I know there's lets of opinion about best exposure length vs gain and read noise but I still haven't got my head around that yet. In my simplistic way it seems to me that a longer exposure should get more detail in the faint areas - as long as bright areas aren't saturated and I've certainly seen some great shots from others with subs with very long exposures.
