Bert, looking at the histograms for each colour chanel in the SMC, I see that the blue channel is clipped, yet it is still overwhelming the other channels.
I have a 'fiddled with' version; you might not personally like it, but it does show that by selective curve adjustments on each channel rather than an RGB curve adjustment, one could acheive a reasonable colour result.
