Here's a few more things to think about. While total integration time is the key factor, the way to get there will be different for different setups. I shoot 30-60 sec subs for a couple of reasons.
With 30 sec subs I can do away with computer guiding and all the hassle it involves. It saves the weight of guiding gear. In my case I already have an overloaded HEQ5 Pro.
With 30 sec subs one can shoot in the cloud gaps. I live in the tropics and rarely get cloud free sky time. There's guys here that shoot 1 hour subs. No way could I do that here.
Short subs are sharper. Seeing can blur out longer subs.
Short subs avoid focus change with temperature drift. On nights where temperature drops quickly, the focus of my 10" F4 can shift in a short time.
Dew. I'd rather lose a minute than half an hour. Yes you can get dew heaters. More complexity lol. I used to use one but found they shift the focus too much and the camera dews up anyway. Probably less important with an astro cam.
