+1 for the JVC, their D-ILA has been highly recommended for years. The Sony series are also excellent. Both use liquid crystal on silicon which gives a more film-like reproduction and excellent contrast ratios.
Of course, unless they are used in theatre-like conditions, any contrast ratio or colour reproduction metrics go out the window...
