I was curious to see how a kit Canon 55-250mm would work on the moon
using both autofocus and image stabilisation, and hand held [nothing to lean against]. Nearest I could get to good exposure was 1/4000th @ f/8, ISO 800.
This is as it came out of the camera, except for huge cropping. The hardest bit was holding the moon over an autofocus point.
