The fading expectation of good service

It's a sign of the times I suppose, and perhaps my own cynicism raising its ugly head, but these days, I have become accustomed to receiving poor service and badly made goods much of the time. But every now and again, you come across an example of good products and good service and faith is restored - until the next time.

I have recently had one of those revelations on the " Road to Harvey Norman" with my SBIG STF8300. It wasn't cooling right and the power to the filer wheel had died. So I sent it back to Bill Lynch in the States.

Well, I heard back from him today and for about A$500 I'm getting what amounts to a new camera. He has stripped and cleaned it down to its bare bones, replaced the cooler, fixed the i2C unit, upgraded the firmware and it's ready to come home. All up, under a month.

For my money, that's pretty damned good. My faith has been somewhat restored.
