Darren, did you remember to back off the tension of the focuser pinion before tensioning the draw tube glide on top.
I found it is best to actually remove the focuser pinion assembly completely, then make the adjustment to the top set screws that tension the draw tube glide strip. Then when refitting the pinion assembly retract the push screws until they are level with the housing. From there adjust them exactly the same amount (I usually do each one a quarter turn until the pinion mesh is close and then an eighth of a turn to fine tune until there is no back lash.

Tensioning too much may actually bend the pinion shaft leading to uneven pinion rotation.
