I updated my gf's iPad today.
Well, iOS 11 is a real improvement, unlike 10 or 9 over their previous versions.
* The keyboard finally supports typing digits and the most used special characters by just swiping downward , e.g. a Q results in a 1. A feature Android has for years.
* The control center is much improved by swiping upward and the dock is a bonus as well.
* The files app is still too limited, but Readdie's Documents (free) which is MUCH better and already works since iOS 8 is integrated with it.
So stupid that the iPhones do not support these features, even the larger ones such as the Plus versions of the 6/7/8 and the X.
I have Android which is mature as well. iOS is too limited for me and still leaves the user too few control over the device. It is even impossibe to import / export files from an USB drive, missing a Time Machine like local backup feature, locking individual apps (which is possible in Android).
I am a Mac user, but macOS is MUCH better than iOS. No, I am not comparing apples with oranges, but apples with apples, both a Macbook and an iPad are mobile devices (we take both with us on our trips) and both are powerful computers, so Apple is not using all power of the top quality hardware of iOS devices.
Even my Android phone (Huawei Mate 9) has more features than the iPad.
iOS is very good for media consuming which does it very well, but more advanced apps like image stacking, RAW photo processing, you can forget about it.
Shame that such top hardware and design has such restrictive software.
