Likely the mirror is not in position to focus for that EP. Slightly loosen off the mirror locking bars, the two cone shaped knobs. Yhis will allow the focuser to mive the orimary in or out to achieve focus. What sort of diagonal is it, the one that cane with the scope and scews on the back?
I seem to recall it can take up to 20 rotations of the focuser to move the prmary from full back to focus. As you don't know exactly where the primary is currently positioned your going to need to experiment. I suggest a star test, wind the focuser out andcsee what happens to the star. If it gets larger then reverse the focus direction and wind it in as long as it keeps heading towards good sharp focus.
I suggest you learn how to make a Duncan Mask, a good collimation aid for SCTs. You will likely need to collimate the scope.
