Hi Leon,

A similar thing happened to our cat, from the day we got him at eight weeks he never purred. then at the age of four we took him to the Vet to have his teeth cleaned.

This procedure involved anaesthetic and a tube down his throat. Upon getting him home he suddenly developed the loudest purr I have ever heard on a cat. It literally could keep you awake at night.

Strange things do happen.
