Errr, the main focuser knob is SUPPOSED to turn when you turn the fine focus wheel - they work with each other (the fine focus knob is basically a planetary ball bearing setup that turns the main pinion at a much reduced rate, essentially relying on the friction between the ball bearings and the pinion to turn SLIGHTLY each time).
If the fine focus wheel turns and the main does NOT, then you have an issue where there is insufficient tension/friction on the main pinion.
