I've used Norton/Symantec back in the days, then Zonelabs for years and finally now I'm using a Fortinet hardware gateway. That's very easy to use and updates daily. There's a thin client for each device when you connect outside of your LAN but one point of entry which is your router. So the traffic gets filtered at the source, not on each device.
