Occultation of Antares by the Moon 8/7/06
Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum so I thought I would post some images of Antares being occultated by the moon, well, just before it occurred anyway. The images were taken just before 4.50 p.m. with my recently acquired Skywatcher Pro 100ED and Canon 350D. They were taken at prime focus at around 1/125 sec and 3456 x 2304 pixels. The JPEG images came out at around 1.7MB although they have been played around with in Paint Shop Pro 9 to reduce them to about 150K so they can be posted in this forum.
Unfortunately no images of Antares's reappearance were forthcoming as the clouds rolled in. The occultation was supposed to be 24 minutes, just goes to show how fast the weather can change here in the 'sunny' Blue Mountains!
That's all for now, clear skies folks.
