g_day
I thought I did explain things fairly well. But I will point out I’m not into astrophotography. When I had the LXD55 it was a pain in the you know what.
The thing would not work one day then work the next. But after sometime and improvements its was pretty good, but not as good as one would like.
I don’t won’t a mount that will play up so to speak. When all the information is correct I expect it to work and well. The Vixen is a real possibility. Biggest problem is price.
It will hold my scope very well. Also easier to carry than the bigger EQ6.
An all round scope like the HEQ5 is a good idea as that mount will hold a 10”sct.
I may not move up to such scope but maybe one day.
I also like the look of the mount and Steve Massey rated it well in his article in AS&T
September 2005.
The choice is a bit difficult. As money will not allow the Losmandy mounts which I would get before the others. So one of the others I will get.
Maybe the EQ6 is a bit big and heavy. But you can not under mount your scope.
The Mak, is not big and would ride on any of the mounts just fine.
The Vixen I like and I’m looking into it. Through people that got one and have used it for a while. The Sphinx is a mystery to me and I would want to know more before putting my hard earned on it.
But as you said I’m in the all rounder type mount at the moment and that’s ok as there good at most things. And of what I have read the HEQ5 Pro is a very good mount.
I just need and owner to talk too!!
Many thanks for your input and others also.
