Modifications to the mount

I have decided to go ahead with the mount modifications to simplify the Reforking or subsequent Deforking operations and have edited the for sale post to reflect this.

From the responses to my posts on other forums I gather that very few people have actually deforked a CPC800. On these scopes the OTA attachment screws are inaccessible unless almost the entire drive system is removed and the pivot shaft pushed through the tapered roller bearing on the drive side. The shaft is a press fit and must be driven out with a hammer and drift - there is no feasible way of using a press or puller. Obviously hammering on the OTA is not desirable and could lead to damage (although there does not appear to be any ill effects on mine). I have detailed the deforking procedure in a pdf, which I can send to anyone interested.

After the modification all that is required is to remove the worm gear and worm drive system, which is a relatively simple process, for the mounting screws to be accessible. This makes swapping OTA's easy and greatly increases the utility of the mount. There is no effect on the external appearance of the mount.
