astrophotography is possible what you have now, it just takes time, patience and understanding what to do to counter not having other gear. I do mine mostly dslr+lens+tripod, no tracking, no telescope. so from AP pov you already have excess gear
You havent been put off yet and willing to play around with doing without more expensive gears, so I could see you delving into AP one day.
