Newcomer pictures. Wings over WA.

Hi all,

What a pleasant surprise it was to discover that there is not only a beginner astrophotography forum at this site - where I was given some very generous assistance with identifying where my camera had been randomly pointing - but there are some splendid earthbound pictures here too.

I'm just an amateur snapper but I enjoy taking pictures of the wildlife on our bush block. These are just a few of the creatures that visit us They're all taken within a few metres of our house.

I think somebody in the neighbourhood must have been feeding the kookaburra because it landed on our verandah rail and stared expectantly at me. So I whipped out the camera and stared back.

The New Holland Honeyeaters are feisty lttle guys who occasionally drop in for a bath and to loudly let the world know how important they are.

Not sure what garlic chives honey would taste like but the bee was enthusiastic.

The ring-necked parrots - aka 28s or Port Lincoln Parrots are residents on the block, as are the magpies and galahs. The red tailed cockatoos are fairly regular visitors, as are the Carnaby's with the white tails.

The magpie carrying off the grasshopper for breakfast obviously didn’t actually have a passenger on the morning flight…. but I couldn’t resist sticking one on later…

Cheers,

Chris
