Unitron 60/700 with alt-az mount

Putting this back up again - time to make some room around the place, and 4 classic refractors is too many.

This one is an enigma, and a scarce Unitron - there is still dispute among Unitron/Polarex collectors WHAT it is. Some claim it is a Unitron sold directly by the makers (Nihon Seiko, Japan) WITHOUT Unitron/Polarex (USA/Asia-Pacific/Europe) approval but using the name. Some say left over guide-scopes from the larger instruments were converted and sold as pure visual instruments (after some factory modification, such as installing the finder bases). Some say it is simply a model that was not available in the USA, and as such, is for all intents and purposes, undocumented. a SIMILAR one - but with differences - sold in France 2 years ago for $800 US.

Anyway, whatever it is, the view it produces fits the legendary accolades befitting Unitron/Polarex. Exceptionally sharp, superb contrast, and being f/11⅔ it shows exceedingly little CA.

The alt-az (also Unitron/Polarex, and a somewhat unknown style too!) is very nice to use, and is in mint condition, as is the wooden tripod (upward folding legs). I added a spread chain to the legs, but this has to be removed if you fold the tripod.

Optics are flawless, including the finder, and the collimation screws still retain their red paint "locks", so it has never been fiddled with. The diagonal is clean and perfect, and the included R25 0.965" EP is lovely. Also includes the "amplifier" barlow (goes on the front of the diagonal) and sun filter (DON'T USE IT! Just don't, OK?)

My price is a FIRM $350 (postage additional at cost). I will not accept offers under this. By all means, offer me more though I also permit pick up in Canberra.
