Centillion galaxies (can't think of a larger number right now, but close to infinity), with multi-centillion stars with multi-centillion planets, and yet life is unique on Earth?
There is always the old premise - "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!". Perhaps life on Earth is unique in so much as being carbon-based, and other lifeforms elsewhere use different metabolic and respiratory methods for life.
