For me, a compass and a Synscan alignment was more than enough for an f/5 instrument, let alone just a 50mm lens
Syscan got me to within sub-minute alignment (iterative 2 star alignments). In fact it is ALL I ever used before Sharpcap, including f/8 imaging.
