I always mitigated cable drag from the camera and guidescope by running them up to the centre of gravity (between the rings) and securing with a velcro strap there, then running down the mount following cable guides (that do NOT touch the cable, rather guiding it instead) and then down again to the centre securing bolt of the head/tripod (I use 10mm stainless eyelet bolts instead of the factory securing bolt) and then out to the individual item - PC, hand controller, whatever. The slack of the cable goes on the tripod tray, and since it is not "hard" secured on the scope or mount, the slack can be taken up/lessened by itself.
