At this stage you need to make a hell of a lot of noise about it. take photos and send them with your complaint to Australia Post administration, and to the communications ombudsman. You need to express that their Duty of care has been naught and you are now financially disadvantaged due to the damage they caused. You also need to push the point that they "Australia post" charged you money & entered into a contract with you to deliver said parcel.
If you have a solicitor friend he/she will know which way you need to go with the wording. good luck with it.
