Sad but looking back I think looking at him, it was evident he had cancer from a far younger age.
At my age (60) - and having known several who have died of various cancers - there's something about the way cancer victims look and it's visible in photographs that they were all quite unwell long before.
Conversely looking at the Rolling Stones I am moderately surprised some of them are still alive, starting with Mick ...
