Technique for observing ISS with small apertures
Hi all,
I just observed a pass of the International Space Station in great conditions at near zenith. I observed it with 15 x 80 binoculars and naked eye.
Interestingly, as the ISS faded into the Earth's shadow to the north east, the reduction in glare made it possible to discern, if only momentarily, the two large solar panels appended to the station. I have observed these easily through a 16" Dob previously but this is the first time I have resolved them with the 15 x 80 binoculars. The technique is to wait until the station begins to fade.
Sky safari Pro details of the pass attached.
Richard.
