fwiw) I have more Israeli friends than I have from the country of my birth. Only one of them is open to discussing the history of Israel, the others have had their thought process hard wired in to conflating a discussion of Israeli history with a grievous (anti-semitic) racial attack.
You can see that attitude writ large in Israel's response to criticism in the UN for what amounts to systemic criminality at the executive level.

Point being; I think it would be a fair statement to suggest that the Israeli's have been victims of a coordinated system of propaganda that is so pervasive and complete that it takes a very special individual to pierce the veil.
Some of the editorials... how can I put this? ... Make Andrew Bolt look like a moderate left wing humanitarian of towering intellect - A bastion of self deprecation, contrition and critical thinking.
Haaretz is more balanced and occasionally they'll print a nugget or two, and it has to be said that they sometimes put in to words that which would cause a furore were it spoken of in the Western media.
Though I don't agree with my Israeli friends sense of nationalism, I can fully understand why they think the way they do.
