Rod there's a very nice town in China that is technically in the tropics, yet at 2,500m so the climate is a balmy 20-odd all year round, and no mozzies. Also in the far side of Yunnan so it's free of air pollution and from personal experience expect to see mag 7 and fainter naked eye.

It would be nirvana for some though the downside is having to learn mandarin and acquire a taste for very hot chillis. Nirvana is s short distance away - at Shangri-La. it really does exist. And fwiw mountains in this area are typically 4,500m...
