I like Dava Sobel's books too and btw the former manager of Sydney Observatory, Dr Toner Stevenson (just graduated last week) did her thesis on the Astrographic Catalogue and spend a lot of time talking about the many talented women in astronomy that were often ignored. Here's a link:
