A bit wacky, putting normal human beings in quite strange environments (as in comedic surreal). His "Donut " would be a good read if you are into all things Hadron Collider and his "Faust amongst Equals" still creases me up.

Alternatively Jasper Fforde and his "Lost in a good book" series underpinned by fictional characters and the "Toast marketing board"?

Should keep you busy for a while.
