The market responds to what is good for those in the market. Trump's platform of a 15% business tax immeadiately makes all those listed companies more profitable and thus the market is pricing that in, hence the rise. Given that the Republicans control all levels of government now, the delivery of promises is not the sort of road block that we have here. It remains to be seen how this affects the US budget, debt levels, etc but the Donald has never cared much for paying back debt, but cannot just declare bankrupcy again to escape the US creditors.
The speech was out of character but 'designed' to be one of those 'lets all work together' messages of conciliation.it was not off the cuff as he was reading it off the teleprompter. Many of his rabid supporters were disappointed with that speech as being weak and not Donald. A speech designed by a committee to achieve a purpose and not offend - classic politics 101.
