Thanks for your response. Its hard to know when your starting out whats a reasonable outcome for the equipment your using.
I guess I was hoping the transition to ps would be alot more intuitive than its been so far. With gimp i can manipulate each layer individualy just by clicking and highlighting it in the layers list then for example sharpen or colorize it without effecting any of the other layers. Dont know how to do that in ps yet. I think it'll just be a matter of finding tutorials and writing down the process untill i get proficient.
