Thanks Glen. Yeah I have a good handle on how unhelpful the error 99 message is. I have been going about a process of elimination to narrow it down, at first it seemed to be the micro switch on the CF card door, so I hot wired both that one, and the one on the battery door and it seemed to improve but it kicked off again. The only real pattern to it now is it is more likely to occur when the sensor is cooling, it very rarely throws it with the cooling off. This probably points to your suggestion of the ribbons and connectors. I will target this area in the next time I am sitting in front of it.
