Yes! You can use it without power like a non-goto scope if you want.
There is a slip clutch type arrangement in both axis.
It may seem a little tight, but that is generally ok, just push harder.
(NOTE: the clutch friction can be adjusted, and there are threads here that show how, but that is something that can cause more problems than it solves if you are not careful.)
I have read the manual....apparently not thoroughly enough

Hrmm okay, up/down is nice and smooth but turning the base is real tight - the bottom disc turns as well! Will try look into this slip clutch thing with caution

Compared to my old 8" dob its a million times tighter and i am worried that i will break the goto mechanisms
