Doomsday Prepers..
Have you seen the show?
It reviews various folk who are preparing for a situation where things go wrong, very wrong such that social order is in a state of colapse, food distribution and production no longer what we have today.
The show looks at a "guest" preper who tells why they think they need to set up for "doomsday" and the measures they take.
The best I saw, not because it spelt survival, was a couple who purchased an old missile silo. It was so cool with so much space and robust fittings.
Some arm themselves with so many guns etc they could equip a small army.
I recall, maybe incorrectly, one guy with 350,000 rounds and capacity to make that many again.
When I moved to the bush the idea appealed that I would not be subject to credit squeeze and real estate market boom and bust cycles could have a vegie garden but I was never into the end of world thing.
So do you do it, maybe a little, you know candles and a camper stove in the garage in case the power goes out or do you have a bunker that makes the missile silo look like a kids cubby.
And mostly lets start a list..
What could end normality... A chunk of space rock like took out the big lizards maybe just facebook colapsing, net banking and pizza delivery.
Banking would seem a concern.
Once in Tabulam the phones went down, well you could not even pay cash at the shop because they had no set up other than computer. You could not withdraw cash. You could not buy petrol, beer or smokes not even a pie. The town stopped.
I have candles and a camper stove but when in the bush that is the way I live.
So do you and what could upset normal life.
Both long term and short term.
